What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is as old as civilization itself, and has been practiced
under numerous labels since time immemorial. However, it was not until
1958, when its was officially recognised by the American Medical
Association, that Hypnotherapy began to come into its own. Since then,
great strides have been made, but we know that they are nothing compared
to achievements that will come in the future as new and exciting uses of
Hypnotherapy come to light.
What is a Hypnotherapy state?
NOT…
IS… Sleep
An awake state A state of unconsciousness
A state of relaxation Being gullible
Imagination Being weak-minded
Exercise for your mind Being controlled by someone else
Rapport with your unconscious A loss of self control The ultimate display of control
Hypnotherapy is a true therapy that many people have heard of but don’t
fully understand. It's not brainwashing and it's not a way of
controlling someone. Hypnotherapy is a way of communicating with the
subconscious and allowing a person the space to make choices about how
they want to live their life.
During treatment the patient is asked to lie down on a couch and relax.
A very light trance is then induced, which is similar to being extremely
relaxed, which means you are fully conscious during the whole treatment.
What is NLP?
NLP stands for Neuro Linguistic Programming and is a therapy similar to
Hypnotherapy in that it deals with the subconscious; the difference is
that the treatment is carried out without the patient entering a
Hypnotherapy state.
NLP can help with all sorts of phobias, addictions and also negative
mind patterns that are limiting you.
